Chelsea Reach €70m Agreement With Leicester City for Defender Wesley Fofana

Leicester previously orchestrated the most expensive transfer for a defender back in 2019, where they received €87m for Harry Maguire.

After a summer of letting 10 players leave the club, including stalwart goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, Leicester have now added to that list with the departure of Wesley Fofana. This deal was weeks in the making, as Chelsea has been adamant in reinforcing their back-line. Fofana is only 21 years old, but ranks in the 93rd percentile for progressive carries, 89th percentile for passes completed, and 79th percentile for dribbles completed. The center-back’s youthful athleticism and activity should bode well for an aging Chelsea defense, and he should have much room to grow at such a young age.
